Chemical Peels
These treatments are customizable depending on your skin type, skin concerns and history with chemical peels. Plan to experience anywhere from light flaking to moderate peeling 48-72 hours post treatment. **Please note that you can not have this treatment if you have had recent sun exposure**
Procedure Summary
-
Chemical peels are used to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, brighten the skin, even out the skin tone & texture, lighten unwanted pigmentation (melasma), and improve acne scars.
-
Face, neck & chest
Areas with acne PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) such as the back
-
30 minutes
-
Most patients require about 4 to 6 light-med peels, spaced 1 to 2 months apart, to achieve desired results. The time between the peels allows skin cells to renew and turn over, with each subsequent peel exfoliating cells and treating new cells just beneath the skin surface.
-
Mild redness and flaking for up to two weeks.
-
Depending on the strength and depth of the peel, costs range from $300-$500 dollars per session.
-
Results are seen after each treatment, but optimal results are seen after a series of 4-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. After you reach a desired goal, maintenance can be done 1-2 times per year.
FAQs
What do I need to avoid after a peel?
Picking at the skin
Skipping sunscreen
Letting the skin dry out
Not applying moisturizer
Using exfoliating products or retinols
Can you see results after one peel?
Yes! Many people can see a significant improvement in the appearance of their skin tone and texture in as little as one peel treatment. This is because a peel functions as an exfoliant, which can drastically improve the superficial quality of your skin. Although, optimal results are seen after a series of treatments.
Do chemical peels hurt?
Chemical peels do not generally hurt and are very tolerable. Most patients would describe the process as a short period of slight burning and a tingling sensation for 3-5 minutes. A hand held fan is provided to help decrease discomfort.
What should I avoid before my treatment?
Don't exfoliate. Since a chemical peel is an in-depth exfoliation, it's important that you don't exfoliate for at least 1 week before your appointment
No recent sun exposure
Stay hydrated
If I don’t see peeling, then the treatment didn’t work.
Many of the most sophisticated newer chemical peels contain a mixture of natural acids, as well as soothing hyaluronic acid. These cause skin turnover and exfoliation on a cellular level. Although the peeling is not visible to the naked eye, the results speak for themselves. Additionally, more impacted dead skin cells can take more than one treatment to produce visible peeling.
